Jacob and Lily got to spend the weekend with Auntie Michelle (imagine part Betty Crocker, part Pipi Longstocking, part pin-up girl) while Mommy and Daddy skipped town for a wedding in Virginia. Jacob, particularly, spent the first day trying to figure out how much trouble he could get into without his parents around, but once he realized that having a kindergarten teacher around was probably even MORE restrictive than his parents, he stopped testing and they settled into a very enjoyable weekend! Despite the hot-hot-heat, they got to go to the Botanic Gardens and the Zoo and I was informed that there was pizza as well.
Michelle is amazing and we owe her a huge debt, although after this weekend I think it may be a little while longer before she decides to jump into the parenting pool so that we can pay back the babysitting.
