Photos on the go

A recap of some super-adorable pictures from my phone:

winter swings

Jacob went for his first trip to the swings on Monday. It was a beautiful warm day (40 degrees!) and Daddy had the day off, so we headed down and joined in another ritual of Park Slope parenthood. The playground was busy, and we got to take in the slide, the bouncy horse, and the swings before Jacob puked with delight and we headed home. What a beautiful day! I can't wait for spring.

Team Monson visits Team Jost

Uncle Matt and Aunt Carolyn (Lauren's sister and brother-in-law) came out to New York for the big 60th Anniversary party, but also to spend some time with the littlest Team Jost member. As it turns out, Matt and Carolyn took tons of pictures, but we ended up with precious few.

Most of what you'll see is from our rainy Sunday adventures in midtown (Public Library, Grand Central) and from dinner at Otto in the Village. Lauren's aunt and uncle, Pat and Jim Kelly, came in to join us (and treat us! Thanks, Jimmy!), as did family friend Abby Norton.

We had a great time, Monsons - let's do it again soon!

60 YEARS! Put your hands together, people!

In late December, Lauren's grandparents, Tadeusz and Barbara Luksic, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. It was near the holidays, so it was decided that we'd have a party over MLK weekend to celebrate.

In all, 7 of their 8 children were able to attend, as well as 10 of their grandchildren. It was a beautiful day and was a great excuse for us to show Jacob off to all his relatives.

Baby Jacob, meet Greta Bunny

Just after New Years, Jacob was introduced to his first lagomorph. Greta the Bunny (as well as her friend Angela) stayed at our apartment for a portion of our trip out West. Surprisingly enough, neither Hank nor Stella rose up in protest of this obvious affront to their sovereignty.

Upon our return, Jake and Greta had a little soiree in the apartment. Jacob was thrilled; though, if we're being honest, his excitement was more litter-related than bunny-related. Greta was unamused. Nor was she bemused. Mostly, that bunny was filled with the exact same level of apathy with which she seems to treat all of us feeble life forms born with a distinct lack of rabbitish characteristics.

See for yourself:

Bookworm

There is nothing more beautiful in the world than your baby's delighted giggles. Today while we were reading some storybooks, Jacob began "reading aloud" with me with sing-song squeals and then bursting into giggles when we made the animal noises.

I always think it can't get any better, and then it does.
